Grandview Corner Store is a striking example of heritage brick architecture, with intricate rendered detailing and a decorative Australian crest crowning the building. Over the years, unsuitable repairs and prolonged exposure to the weather had left the original mortar friable, while the rendered cappings, mouldings and decorative elements had become damaged and deteriorated.

At the top of the building, the highly detailed Australian crest remained largely intact but required careful restoration. We meticulously repaired its rendered and precast elements, preserving as much of the original detail as possible. Paint was also removed from the rendered cappings and mouldings, allowing damaged areas to be properly repaired and prepared for painting by others.

Across the façade, the existing mortar joints were fully raked out and repointed using a custom oxide-pigmented lime mortar selected to complement the historic brickwork. Around the main entrance, the later red bagged render was carefully stripped away to expose the original brick faces beneath. Together, these works reinstated the building’s original materials and detailing, giving the façade a more cohesive appearance while preserving its distinctive heritage character.
